2018 CE Requirements: 3-hour Courses on Contracts for Salespersons and Brokers
As most of you know, the annual CE requirement for all licensees is 7 classroom hours, one hour of which must focus on safety for real estate agents and consumers.
For 2018, all licensees must also complete a 3-hour required course on contracts as part of their 7 hour requirement. In developing this course, the Commission felt it was important to adequately address the different needs salespersons and brokers may have in contracts education. For that reason, two separate courses were designed: Real Estate Forms and Contracts for Salespersons and Real Estate Forms and Contracts for Brokers.
As the course names imply, each licensee must complete the course specific to his or her license type (salesperson or broker). It is also important to note that the Real Estate Forms and Contracts for Brokers course is for brokers only. Salespersons may not attend this course, either for credit or not for credit, per the Commission’s mandate.
Here’s a simple breakdown of the 2018 CE requirements by license type:
Salespersons: 7 hrs = 3 hr Forms & Contracts for Salespersons + 1 hr Safety + 3 hrs elective
Associate Brokers: 7 hrs = 3 hr Forms & Contracts for Brokers + 1 hr Safety + 3 hrs elective
Executive Brokers: 7 hrs = 3 hr Forms & Contracts for Brokers + 1 hr Safety + 3 hrs elective
Principal Brokers: 7 hrs = 3 hr Forms & Contracts for Brokers + 1 hr Safety + 3 hrs elective
