Approved CONTINUING EDUCATION TOPICS FOR 2024

2024 ANNUAL REQUIRED TOPICS

All active licensees are required to complete seven (7) hours of continuing education in 2024. Brokers and salespersons have different course requirements.

ALL LICENSEES:
1 hour – Limiting Risk to Preserve personal safety for agents and clients

Licensees may choose to take one or both of the following REQUIRED courses in 2024:
2024 AREC Property Management Course – 3 HOURS
2024 AREC Commercial Real Estate Course – 3 HOURS
For those licensees who choose to take only one of the 3-hour required courses shown above, an elective 3-hour continuing education course must be completed in 2024.

2. Agent and Broker Responsibility
3. Regulatory Compliance with Trust Account Record Keeping & Transaction File Maintenance*
4. Real Estate Policies and Procedures
5. Real Estate Contracts and Forms**
6. Agency and Disclosure***
7. AREC Formal Hearing Procedures, Commission Decisions, and Reasons for Complaints Being Filed
8. Closing Methods & Practice*
9. Ethics and Professionalism in Real Estate
10. Real Estate Law (i.e., Antitrust, Misrepresentation, Megan’s Law, etc.)
11. Fair Housing
12. Property Management and Landlord-Tenant Relationships
13. Environmental & Hazardous Substances Issues (e.g. Lead-Based Paint, Mold – Federal Requirements)
14. Sustainable Building Practices
15. Home Inspections and Property Condition Issues (Inspection & Repair Clauses, Disclosure, Material Facts)

OTHER ACCEPTABLE TOPICS:
16. Applied Construction and Land Use
17. Appraisal/Performing Broker Price Opinions (BPO)
18. Commercial, Industrial and Investment Real Estate
19. Farm-Rural Property
20. Finance (mortgage fraud, mortgage programs HUD, FHA/VA, FmHA, Conventional, ADFA, etc.)
21. Real Estate Tax Issues
22. Real Estate Auctions
23. Home Inspections With Emphasis on Inspection and Repair Clauses in Real Estate Contracts
24. New Technology Including Usage of Social Media in Real Estate Activity

THESE TOPICS CANNOT EXCEED TWO (2) CLASSROOM-HOURS OF CONTENT:
25. Real Estate Court Decisions
26. Researching County and City Records and Requirements Regarding Real Estate (Practical information about local ordinances, zoning and property records)
